 First aid methods in  Microbiology Laboratories

       Immediate help to injured person.

       Must attain hospital.

       Unconsciousness

       head injury – brain is unable to function for more than a few minutes without O2.

       Artificial respiration for breathlessness.

       Lay causality on back.

       Clear obstruction in mouth

       Place a coat on shoulders, so the head is tilted back

       Give breath using mouth to mouth resuscitation

       After getting breath, making him lay one sided.

Shock

            Keep him warm with light blanket

            Do not leave him alone

            Do not give any drinks

Burns

            Severe burns – use fire blanket

            Use running water to cool the body

            Remove contaminated clothing

Minor burns

            Do not touch the burn, wash with running tap water

            Do sterile dressing

Alkali burns – flush with running tap water for 10 minutes and apply dressing

Acid burns – wash with running tap water add – sodium bicarbonate before dressing

Electric burns – switch off current, free the person

            check breathing, do not remove clothing over burns, do not burst any blisters,

            do not apply any cream or oinment, no cotton wool, no adhesive dressing.
